Failed to open COM1

- Subject: Failed to open COM1
I have been using an older cygwin and recently updated to the latest.
COM1 appears to no longer be available. I enter:
export AVARICE_ARGS='-j COM1'
ice-insight build/micaz/main.exe
And I get the following:
AVaRICE version 2.0.20030825cvs, Aug 25 2003 20:53:25
Failed to open COM1: No such file or directory
If I change the export to:
export AVARICE_ARGS='-j /dev/ttyS0'
it works - except that there is a dropdown box in ice-insight that asks
for either COM1 or COM4 and if I select COM1 it says there is no such
thing.
I looked through the documentation and it mentions the com ports and
says that by default it provides COM1; it does not appear to any longer.
I also searched the archives and can do an:
ls -al /dev/com1
crw-rw-rw- 1 reinhlr2 mkgroup- 117, 1 Aug 18 14:54 /dev/com1
ideas?
